Last day of Preschool

So, it was the very last day of preschool for J and for our family.  I was actually surprised at how very  emotional as I was.  Yours truly, actually shed tears as I watched my baby "step-up".  We've been at St. Lukes Parish School for two years.  Our first year was wonderful, but the class was small and I while I met some wonderful moms and kids, I didn't feel much of an attachment to the school.  Our second year class had a lot more kids and my friendships and involvement grew steadily.  J made some wonderful friends, but unfortunately none of them will be at his school next year.

Here are a few snaps from J's first days of school

Memorial Day Parade

Years ago, my family spent fourth of July in Edgartown at Martha's Vineyard.  The parade was absolutely fantastic, one of my favorite.  It was a typical small town parade with vintage cars and beautiful firetrucks that had been polished up for the day.  This year, we decided to stay home and march in our own small town parade.  KF had a hard choice, she could march with Y Princesses, Girl Scouts or Irish Dance-- she ended up marching with Girl Scouts because she knew the most amount of people in that group.  Chomps and the hubs marched with Boy Scouts, and Jackson and I sat roadside and snapped pictures.

We paid tribute to our veterans

We had some beautiful cars!

Mystic, Connecticut

While we didn't go away for Memorial Day this year, we did make a day trip to Mystic, Connecticut.  Mystic is home to famous movie and pizza parlor, "Mystic Pizza"-- which by the way, isn't half bad.  Our first stop was at the Submarine Museum in Groton, CT.  This was a great stop for memorial day as it is housed on the campus of a Naval Base  The kids had a great time and they loved going into the Nautilus.  I don't know how those men ever survived in that submarine...the beds were so close, you wouldn't even be able to roll over in your sleep!

Next, we headed to Stonington for a bite to eat. Stonington is a beautiful little town and they were so patriotic!  We ate at Skipper's Dock which was solid, but frankly looked better than it actually tasted.

After lunch we hit the aquarium in Mystic.  We had a wonderful time, but I must admit I am jaded by the Atlanta Aquarium which is FANtastic.  The kids loved the touch tank and the belugas-- which are amazing animals!
We planned to do so much more, but after strolling Main Street, watching the drawbridge raise and having ice cream at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream, the kids were toast and ready to call it a day.  And speaking Of MDIC...this is not to be missed.  They have some crazy good flavors.  I didn't partake,  but this is what the fam got...
  • Sticky Fractured Finger-- Carmel icecream with butterfingers
  • Vermont Maple Nut
  • Ginger Spice
  • Creamy Coconut
  • Chocolate Mint Oreo
